A Short History of Trotter's

Trotter's Independent Condiments started life in 2009 when Mr. Trotter began making chutneys from his kitchen in his family home. Trotter's started as an extremely small operation, with a dream to share delicious condiments with the community. The brand soon gained a loyal following with the local foodies of Fife and surrounding areas, with products being sold at farmers' markets, farm shops and independent retailers.

As demand grew, so did the business. Production moved from the family home into a purpose-built kitchen, allowing Trotter's products to reach more customers, whilst staying true to the top-notch quality and decadent, homely flavour that made them so popular. Locally sourced ingredients and small batches are at the heart of what we do — and always will be.

Over time, the business shifted towards manufacturing on behalf of other brands, and unfortunately the Trotter's Independent Condiments range was temporarily discontinued. This had been the case for a number of years.

Fast forward to 2025, and Mr. Trotter decided it was time for a new adventure — and so he handed the company over to us.

Whilst getting to grips with the business, we came across some of the original Trotter's recipes and, after making a few small batches, we fell in love with the taste and quality. We decided these flavours were far too good to be forgotten — in our opinion, the people deserve Trotter's — and our minds were made up. We are now in the process of rebranding and relaunching the Trotter's range.

We're working hard to stay true to the flavours and recipes that built Trotter's, whilst giving the brand a fresh new lease of life. Alongside the products people know and love, we're developing new flavours and ideas that we're excited to share in the months ahead.

This is just the start of the next chapter. Watch this space.
